Several times each season, NBAS members set up telescopes and invite the public to come out and look up. These events are free, open to all ages, and require no experience β just curiosity and a willingness to stay up past sunset.
Public Observing Nights
We host regular observing nights at accessible public locations in the Northern Berkshires β typically open fields, parks, or nature areas with good southern horizons and minimal light pollution. Dates are announced on our calendar and through our newsletter.
Some events are organized entirely by NBAS; others are hosted by local institutions such as museums or nature centers, which may include an introductory talk before heading outside. Either way, our members bring the equipment and the enthusiasm.
What you might see on any given night depends on the season β planets, the Moon, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies are all fair game. We’ll point to whatever is up and looking its best.
Private & Group Sessions
Public nights not your thing, or need something tailored to your group? We can arrange observing sessions for schools, scout troops, civic organizations, camps, and other groups β scheduled at a time and location that works for you.
Contact us to discuss what you have in mind.
