Astronomy has no shortage of compelling stories to tell β€” and NBAS members are happy to tell them. Since 2023 we’ve given over a dozen public talks covering topics from naked-eye observing to deep sky objects, the solar system, stellar evolution, and more.

Talks at Our Meetings

Some of our monthly meetings are structured as public presentations β€” held at the North Adams Public Library on the first Wednesday of the month at 6 PM, open to anyone. These are a great low-key way to hear about a topic in astronomy and meet the club. Watch our calendar and newsletter for which meetings include a public talk.

Talks at Observing Events

When a public observing night is sponsored by a local institution, we’ll often pair it with a short introductory talk before heading outside β€” giving attendees some context for what they’re about to see through the eyepiece.

Talks at Your Venue

We can also bring a talk to you. If your library, school, museum, civic group, or organization is interested in an astronomy presentation, we can work with you on a topic and format that fits your audience and event.
