Observing Challenges!
Once you’re past the basics, the sky starts asking questions. Can I see that? Can I reach that with what I have? This series is where those questions become challenges β organized by skill level and equipment so you can find ones that are actually within reach, and maybe a few that will surprise you.
Some of these you’ll stumble across naturally. Others nobody would think to attempt until someone points out that it’s possible. That’s half the fun.
Skill levels:
- Beginner - things to try to get you used to look at the sky, and noticing what's up there!
- Intermediate - you know a few things: these will help you learn new concepts, and hone your skills!
- Advanced - you've got some experience, but you want to extend and test your skills!
Observing Modes:
- Naked Eye - you just need YOU (and maybe a star map and a red flashlight)
- Binoculars - scanning the skies with binoculars (a tripod helps) is a great way to discover objects
- Telescope - if you have a telescope - these challenges will get you comfortable with using it
- Imaging Telescopes - for "smart" scope owners - now you get to see what these scopes are capable of!
